Frequently Asked Questions

Answers to the questions people ask us most — about safety, accounts, supported Windows versions, cost, and remote support.

Is it safe to run commands on my PC from my phone?
Yes! All commands are safe, official Windows tools built by Microsoft. Every command shows you exactly what it does before you send it. Commands are encrypted end-to-end and auto-delete after 5 minutes.
Do I need to create an account?
No. The app works without any account, email, or sign-up. Just download and start using it.
What Windows versions are supported?
Windows 10 and Windows 11. Both 64-bit versions. Not compatible with Mac or Linux.
How much money does this save me?
The PC Companion — the free download that connects your phone to your PC — costs nothing. The fixes themselves live in the WindowsHelper phone app, which is coming soon and doesn't have an announced price yet, so we can't put a firm number on it — but a single repair-shop visit is often $300+, and skipping even a couple of those pays for itself many times over.
Windows says "Windows protected your PC" — is this normal?
Yes, this is completely normal for new apps! Windows shows this for any app that hasn't been downloaded millions of times yet. To proceed: Click "More info" then "Run anyway". You only need to do this once — Windows remembers your choice.
Can I use it from anywhere in the world?
Yes! As long as both your phone and PC have internet, you can send commands from anywhere. Your phone could be in New York and your PC in California — it still works.
How do I uninstall the companion app?
Right-click the green WindowsHelper icon in your system tray (bottom-right of your screen, near the clock) and select "Uninstall WindowsHelper". This removes it from startup and disconnects. Then just delete the .exe file from your Downloads folder. That's it — completely removed.
Can a WindowsHelper expert connect to my PC to fix it?
For trickier problems, live remote help is available — a WindowsHelper expert can securely view and control your screen and fix things for you. It only happens after you approve the connection right on your own screen, so nothing starts without your say-so. It's a one-time session: the helper app runs only while you're connected and closes the moment you're done — nothing stays installed. And you can end the session anytime.
Is remote support safe?
Yes. Nobody can connect to your PC without your on-screen approval every single time — there's no standing access and no way in uninvited. Each session is one-time only, you watch everything happen live, and you can end it instantly. WindowsHelper will never connect to your PC unless you asked for help and approved it yourself — if anyone ever contacts you out of the blue claiming to be "support," that's not us.
Is WindowsHelper available now?
The free PC Companion download is available now. The WindowsHelper phone app — where the guided fixes live — is coming soon. You can join the launch list on this site to be emailed the moment it's ready.
