π Fix Mobile-to-PC Audio Streaming Issues
Last updated: October 13, 2025
Set up and troubleshoot audio streaming between phone and PC including wireless mic, audio routing, and virtual audio devices
Overview
Stream audio between your phone and Windows PC, use your phone as a wireless microphone, or route PC audio to your phone speakers.
What's different about streaming audio from your phone to your PC
This is distinct from the phone and PC failing to pair or connect at all, and distinct from messages specifically not syncing β this is about playing your phone's sound, such as calls or media, through your PC's speakers once a connection between the two devices already exists. Audio is its own separate stream running within that connection, the same way messaging has its own separate path.
Audio has to be captured on the phone continuously, sent across the connection in real time, and played back on the PC without breaking up β a different kind of ongoing task than a one-off message or notification, which is part of why audio can behave differently, cutting out or lagging, even when everything else about the phone-PC connection looks completely fine.
Signs it's the audio stream specifically
- Notifications, messages, or other features work fine, but sound cuts out, stutters, or doesn't come through at all
- Audio is noticeably delayed compared to what's happening on the phone, or has an echo
- It works under some conditions β close range, say β but not others
- It started after a phone update, a Wi-Fi or Bluetooth change, or switching which speakers or headphones are in use
How serious is it?
Usually minor
Audio glitches during calls or media are an inconvenience, not a data or safety risk to your phone or PC.
Worth taking seriously
If it's failing consistently during something you rely on, like calls, it's worth sorting sooner rather than working around it every time.
Why reconnecting the whole link doesn't always touch the audio piece
The common instinct is to unlink and pair the phone and PC again from scratch β and that helps when the pairing itself has drifted, but if pairing and other features are working fine and it's specifically the audio path breaking down, redoing the whole connection doesn't address that narrower piece, and can undo other features that were already working.
Narrowing down whether it's the audio stream specifically, or something broader about the connection, before guiding toward what actually needs to change, is what WindowsHelper is being built to do.
What this helps with
What to expect: Hard difficulty β’ usually about 25-35 minutes.
This is one of 26 Mobile Integration fixes in the WindowsHelper library. The full step-by-step fix for this is in the WindowsHelper app.
Coming soon in the app
The full step-by-step fix for this is in the WindowsHelper phone app β coming soon, no price announced yet. The free PC Companion (available now) is the piece that connects your phone to your PC.
