What's actually happening during a paper jam or feeding problem

A printer pulls paper through a specific mechanical path — rollers grip and guide each sheet, sensors confirm it's moving correctly — and a jam or feeding failure means that physical path got interrupted somewhere: paper folded or caught, a roller not gripping well enough anymore, or more than one sheet being pulled in at once. This is a mechanical problem more than a software one, even though it often shows up as an error message on your screen.
