πΆ Fix Wi-Fi Networks Not Showing
Last updated: January 27, 2026
Can't see any Wi-Fi networks in the list? Your adapter isn't scanning. Let's fix that!
Not sure this is your exact issue? Every WindowsHelper guide is scoped to one specific problem β not a generic troubleshooting checklist β so if the title above matches what you're seeing, this is the right guide.
What it means when Wi-Fi networks don't show up in the list
This is a narrower situation than the Wi-Fi option disappearing entirely β here, Wi-Fi is still available as an option, your adapter is still recognized, but when you open the list of nearby networks, some or all of them just aren't there. Your PC still has the ability to see Wi-Fi networks; it's the actual scanning or listing part that isn't turning up what should be around.
This is different from the Wi-Fi adapter itself going missing, where the whole option to use Wi-Fi disappears. Here the option is present and the adapter is recognized β it's specifically the list of nearby networks that's incomplete or empty.
How to tell it's the network list, not the adapter
- Wi-Fi is available as an option and turns on fine, but the list of networks is empty or very short
- Your own network specifically is missing while others show up, or the other way around
- Other devices nearby see the same networks just fine
- The list sometimes fills in after a wait, or after turning Wi-Fi off and back on
How serious is it?
Usually minor
A short, temporary gap in the network list right after turning Wi-Fi on is common and usually clears within a few seconds.
Worth taking seriously
Networks that are consistently missing, especially your own, is worth sorting since it directly blocks you from connecting at all.
Why toggling Wi-Fi off and on isn't a lasting answer
Turning Wi-Fi off and back on refreshes the scan, which is why it sometimes brings a missing network back β but if the real cause is something more persistent about how scanning is behaving, the fix is temporary and the network drops out of the list again later.
Working out why scanning specifically isn't finding what it should on your PC, rather than repeatedly toggling Wi-Fi, is what WindowsHelper is being built to help identify.
