🌐 Configure Browser Sync Across All Devices
Last updated: October 12, 2025
Sync bookmarks, passwords, tabs and history in Edge, Chrome and Firefox across your devices, move bookmarks between browsers and fix sync that stops working.
Not sure this is your exact issue? Every WindowsHelper guide is scoped to one specific problem — not a generic troubleshooting checklist — so if the title above matches what you're seeing, this is the right guide.
What browser sync keeps in step across your devices
This is specifically about your web browser’s own sync — bookmarks, saved passwords, open tabs, and browsing history following you between your PC, phone, and other devices — not the broader Windows account settings sync that covers things like your desktop background or general system preferences. It’s tied to signing into the browser itself, not just being signed into Windows.
For it to work, each device generally needs to be signed into the browser and connected, so it can send and receive changes. A device that’s offline, or signed out of the browser even while Windows itself is signed in, won’t stay in step with the others until that changes.
Signs of whether it’s actually set up
- You’re signed into the browser itself, not just Windows, on each device you want it to follow
- A bookmark or password saved on one device doesn’t show up on another
- Open tabs on one device aren’t visible from another when you go looking
- It works on some devices but not others, rather than everywhere or nowhere
How serious is it?
Usually minor
Not seeing sync yet, especially right after signing in on a new device, is often just a matter of it not having caught up yet rather than being broken.
Worth taking seriously
Saved passwords not carrying over deserves more attention than a missing bookmark, since it can leave you locked out of something on a new device at an inconvenient moment.
Why “just sign in again” doesn’t always get it going
Being signed into the browser is the starting point, but sync depends on more than that alone — each device has to actually be allowed to sync, be checked in recently enough, and agree on what to sync, so signing in again doesn’t automatically mean everything catches up right away.
Working out whether the gap is about being signed in, what’s allowed to sync on a given device, or something else entirely, rather than repeatedly signing out and back in, is what WindowsHelper is being built to help with.
What this helps with
