Why screen sharing breaks even when video calls work fine

Screen sharing asks more of your PC than an ordinary video call — instead of just sending your webcam, it has to continuously capture everything happening on your screen and send that too, in real time. That's a heavier, more demanding job, which is why it's common to have a video call working perfectly while screen sharing specifically freezes, lags, shows a black screen, or won't start at all.
