What shadow copies do, and how that’s different from System Restore

System Restore rolls back your PC’s system settings as a whole; this is narrower and more personal. Windows can also quietly keep snapshots of individual files and folders on your drive, letting you reach back for an earlier version of one specific file, without touching your system settings or installed programs at all.
